I am a mezzo-soprano who graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a degree in Music with a vocal emphasis. My years of study include French, Italian and German diction and vocal pedagogy. My musical teaching repertoire includes student teaching in an all women's university choir, and directing community/ church choirs. In addition to study, I have performed in "Le nozze de Figaro" as the Countess, sung in opera benefits, master classes, recitals, performed at a N.A.T.S. vocal competition in Caldwell, Idaho and most recently, performed solos in the annual production at the Chehalis 7th Day Adventist Church since 2013 production of Handel's "Messiah" .
My teaching style focuses on teaching safe and healthy techniques in order to help students become more confident singers. Each student will be taught techniques that they can carry on to other singing activities in order to help them become more expressive, educated singers that will not have to worry about damaging their voices.
Goals for students
Students who take lessons for singing generally have a higher confidence level, improved posture, quality projection, good stage presence and higher breath and vocal stamina. My personal goal for my students is that they learn safe technique and have fun while learning and developing their unique voice.
Students of various ages and stages of life are all welcome. When it comes to musical style, I believe that you should sing what you love, but I will start you with a classical foundation to build up a good technique that you can take to sing with whatever styles you desire.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email and I will be more than happy to respond.
